4 Quick Tips to Have a Good Interview

By Sherese Duncan, CEO Efficio, Inc.
Since launching the Internet Radio Station and Real Women Show in 2005, I’ve found these 4 quick tips work well for having a good interview.  You may have heard them before, but you might need to hear them again to put your best voice forward:

1.  Smile While You’re Speaking: To illustrate this tip, over the phone tell someone your elevator statement twice, once without smiling and once smiling.  They will instantly hear the difference in your voice.

2.  Focus on the Question Asked: Sometimes it can be hard to focus on interviews, but you can really tell if the person being interviewed heard the question asked or chose to avoid the question all together.  Make sure to focus on each question and ask the interviewer to repeat if necessary.

3.  Use Different Tones in Your Voice: There’s nothing like hearing the same flat sound when listening to an interview – it’s boring.  Practice talking in different tones to emphasize a word or sentence.

4.  Prepare by Interviewing Yourself: Make sure to go through any pre-questions you may be given before your interview.  You want to be prepared, and by hearing yourself answer questions beforehand can lead to better answers.
